Think of Rachel

You may or may not know Rachel is going to have surgery on Monday the 19th. They are going to remove part of her stomach muscle because she has desmoids there that they want to remove. Nothing too major.
She and I were talking last week and she was sure we did not need to put out a request for a fast and prayer. Well, this morning Derik woke up with a cold. She is now convinced we all need to put in an extra word for her to stay well so she can have the surgery.
So, if you would not mind, just keep her in your prayers and thoughts as well as Derik and the doctors and all else who might need the little extra...

A TREE FOR MARILYN

Mike called and told me he was going to bring a tree over for Marilyn. Lance and his boys and Marilyns boy scouts all made ornaments for it. I think it turned out rather nice. It was cold but fun to put up. I was worried about it blowing away but Mike said the red bottom is full of cement so it will not go anywhere. Thanks Mike it was a lot of fun!!!

CHRISTMAS PARTY

We had a great time at the Christmas Party. I was good to see and visit with all who were able to make it and we missed all who could not. Carl and Lorna brought pizza for lunch (yum) and of course we had enough treats to last the month of December (although they did not). Amy did a great job with the gift exchange for both the kids and the families. Grandpa handed out calenders that Becky put together (they are fantastic). All the pictures are great. A lot of you went all out with family pics. Maybe we need to do this every year so we continue that trend!! I have loved to see all the family pics I have seen lately. Thanks to all of you!

Here is a funny

I think this is funny, and maybe most of you will not "get" it but I hope so! At work, I sit by this young girl. she is all of 20 almost 21. During the first part of the summer when we were concerned about flooding and such she made a comment someting like, What do they think will happen, water running down the streets or something! I looked at her dumbfounded and said don't you remember the floods of "83? Then it was her turn to look at me dumbfounded and she said I was not even born until 8?. I started to laugh and said well then I guess you do not remember that.

Today I was help a customer. When I pulled up the account the persons name was Lavern. His wife was on the phone so I asked her what her name was, she said Shirley. I smiled and when I got off the phone I chuckled a little. The same girl sitting next to me said what is so funny? I told her that I just talked to a lady whose name is Shirley and her husbands name is Lavern. She looked at me dumbfounded again like so... Then I remembered that I am an old fart and she is just a young kid, I started to laugh as I said to her Lavern and Shirley means nothing to you does it. She said "NO" I forget that I am so much older than all these people I work with.

Thought of Marilyn

Ok, two saturdays ago we went to Wendy's mom's house and cut down an apple tree in her back yard. I sit all day at my job and then when I get home I do some more of nothing. LAZY or something. Well, I had been cutting for not long maybe 15-20 min maybe less I really do not know and I was tired. I had to sit down and rest. My mind told me I could keep going but my body said sit. I remember Marilyn telling me the same story about herself. I know my experience is very minimal to hers but I did think of her and think how frustrating that must be. Last saturday my neighbor took out a bunch of cement and was throwing it into his truck to take to the dump. Again, I got too pooped to pop anymore. I am not as butch as I use to be. I did remember that I am closer to 50 than 40, that is depressing!!

For Melonie

On Sunday Debbie blessed her little Trevin. Dad decided he wanted to go and I was the "choosen one" to go with him. Keelee was a brave trooper and went as well. Dad arrived at my house around ten so we went early. We got to the church early enough to get in the sacrament meeting before Debbies so I am good for the year. (Ok, maybe the next ten years!) It was good to see everybody. Melonie and her clan was there. I have not seen them since we had Dads 80th birthday party. Earl and his family is always a joy as well. Ellie is getting along so good in the wheel chair it makes everybody around her smile. Becky's liitle one is a sleeper. He bareley made a peep the whole time at church. I even tried to wake him so I could take him out but he was not playing nice. I later found out that they gave him a bath before church and he was not happy about that so he was pretty worn out from that event. Oh well. It was good to see everybody again. I look forward to doing it again when Henry gets his blessing.

STALKING JULIE

For those of you who do not know Julie has moved to a new house up on the hill. Lucky for her and maybe me or the other way around, I can now spy on her. This is a very blurry image of the back of her house from my house! I really should have taken a picture while she was standing out on her porch waving. Poor girl, she has a steller view but little did she know now I can keep my eye on her. ROLF

My side of the story

Marilyn called me Monday night and asked me if she could make a reservation at my house for the next night. I said yes. She came over to get her line replaced and needed to be at the hospital at 9am. They threatened to sadate her so she told me she would call me and let me know if she needed a ride home. I got a call to tell me she was heading in and they were going to take her phone and hadn't talked to the dr so she still didn't know if she needed a ride home or not.

I was totally expecting to hear from her by the time I got off work at 2:30, when I did not I did not quit know what to think. I called her and it went straight to her voice mail. I knew she still was not out so I had a delema, what do I do now. I had decided that I go to the hospital and see if I could find her. I was quit releaved when I received a call from marilyns cell phone shortly after I made that decision. It was the nurse telling me that she was still being worked on and that she would be able to drive herself home. I did not mind picking her up, but I was a little worried that I would not be able to find her once I got there. I told her next itme I will go home and patiently wait for her call.

OOPS

So our light in the kitchen has been out for almost a month now and we decided we were going to finally get it fixed. We had the replacement light ever since it went out so it shouldn't take too long. Well, the box in the cealing was not big enough for the new fixture so we had it all planned out to put one screw in the old box and the other one in the stud. Once we did that the we discovered the screw in the box was stripped. We decided that rather than cutting a hole in the cealing that Wendy will go up to the attic and change the box from there. Well, this is a pic of my hall where Wendy came down from the attic. she did not come all the way down thank goodness

So, not only do I have a big hole in my hall but I have a hole in my kitchen as well. Next time...

Weny is ok, now we just have to find the guts to fix the job that we created triing to fix the job!!

I went with Keelee and her Jr high to the foriegn lanquage festival at BYU last friday. Keelee was in a skit, her group scored a superior, the best that was given. They did really good the skit was cute, (even though I did not understand a word of it). Then we went to Spangliania (or something like that) a made up country that we had to go through customes (all the kids had a pass port and had to get it stamped) and we had to go to the bank so we could spend peso's cuz they did not take american $. It was fun. They had a hotel , a photo shop, a pharmacy, a bakery and resturaunt and of course suvaneir shops. If anyone got cought speaking English they went to jail and either had to pay ten peso's to get out or had to sing a song. Needless to say, I did not talk much while we were there. I was talking to Keelee for a minute though and got a nasty look from a police man. Keelee said he was listening real close to see which language I was talking. I was not too worried, the teacher gave me a free pass into the country, I was hoping it would keep me out of jail as well. Karley was walking home from school last week and got bitten by a dog. Luckily the dog is up on its rabbi shots. It broke the skin and left a pretty bruise. It was not as bad as it could have been, she was wearing long pants that protected her quit a bit. Did not tear the pants though.
